a better solution imo is to pass the version of the app systematically in the header of all API calls, and then have the API return a specific status code if it detects the version is obsolete. and then handle it inside the app. this is better than having to call yet another dedicated API for this check, and having to figure out exactly when/where this API call should done inside the app/service.
